About Island IV

Island IV has been on my mind for over 6 years. Once I relocated to the US Virgin Islands, I realized that there were no outpatient Infusion Therapy centers and it made perfect sense to me that there should be one. I could see that the service would be focused on wellness and the ability to focus on your health before having a health issue.

My initial idea was to begin with hangover infusions and IV hydration – it was a natural leap living on an island bathed in sun, rum, and fun but life took a turn and I began to think bigger. Since living on St. Thomas, my wife was diagnosed with cancer. Working as an infusion nurse in an oncology center I am very aware of what chemotherapy does to the body. In order to combat those side effects, we began Vitamin C infusion services and they really helped her to feel better during treatment.

This business is something that I believe in. Working in oncology has taught me that wellness requires a 360 approach. It’s more than getting regular checkups or being a specific weight. It’s all about how you feel, how you treat yourself, how you live and creating a life that is focused on your optimal wellness.

My commitment is to ensure that everyone that uses Island IV’s services feels better than they did before they started. I want you to feel heard, understood, and served. Island IV's goal is to help you to tap into that internal glow and feel like the best version of yourself.

What We Do

What Is IV Therapy?

Intravenous means "within a vein" and it is a safe and efficient way to deliver essential vitamins and nutrients directly to the bloodstream.

Why IV Therapy Works?

IV therapy is highly effective because it bypasses the digestive system.

This allows for 100% absorption of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants.

Who Benefits from IV Therapy?

Island IV's therapies focus on health, recovery, wellness, and fitness.

IV therapy is designed to help foster and support healthy living by addressing individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does IV Vitamin Infusion therapy work?

IV vitamin infusion therapy involves inserting an IV line into a vein in your arm to administer a high concentration of liquid vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids, and minerals into your bloodstream. The therapy may be for only one vitamin or a cocktail of nutrients.

Session time is determined by the selected treatment.

Do I need to be evaulated prior to treatment?

Yes, each patient will be evaluated by one of our medical professionals before initiating treatment. Blood work will be determined by type of infusion you are interested in having done.

What are the benefits of vitamin infusion therapy versus taking vitamins orally?

There are several benefits to receiving vitamins through infusion therapy. These include:

  • A higher absorption rate. When you take vitamins orally, your body has to metabolize them as they go through your digestive system. Since infusion therapy is injected directly into your bloodstream, your body absorbs a higher percentage of the nutrients.

  • Dosage can be personalized. When you take vitamins via a pill or food, you consume whatever amount is already included in the item you're taking orally. On the other hand, when you receive vitamin infusion therapy, your healthcare professional will take into account your age, genetics, existing medical conditions, metabolism, and anything else that may be relevant specifically to you in order to maximize the benefits.

  • It keeps you hydrated. Patients with moderate to severe dehydration can benefit from hydration IV therapy. However, there are several vitamins that also aid in hydration - including vitamins A, C, and E. While there are over-the-counter vitamins that contain these nutrients, certain medical conditions prevent your body from fully absorbing them. Infusion therapy ensures a higher success rate of providing the nutrition your body needs.

A healthcare professional will mix the solution to be injected according to your doctor's instructions. They will then insert the IV needle and monitor the infusion through its duration.

How quickly will I feel the effects?

Everyone is different. As a general rule, the more deficient and unbalanced your system is, the greater and more immediate an effect you will feel. Just because you do not feel an immediate difference, doesn't mean the therapy is not beneficial. IV therapies are the clinical gold standard in "flushing" out the body of unwanted toxins and helping achieve balance.

What if I have an adverse reaction?

If you experience any discomfort, please contact us immediately.  Any adverse reactions from allergies, hives, or feelings of anxiety are issues that our experienced staff are very well equipped to handle.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

No. Our therapies are not covered by insurance at this time.

Why is hydration so important?

Your body is approximately 60% water and it relies on that water to maintain it's cells, tissues, organs and other bodily functions.

The importance of hydration is often forgotten as many people forget to drink water as often as they should. When you become dehydrated, your body loses fluids making it harder to operate at its full potential.

Does it hurt?

Everyone varies on their fear of needles and we understand that. Our certified medical staff is highly experienced and thoroughly trained.

Can I get an IV treatment if I am pregnant?

We always try to work with your physician in this case. Typically we will only administer fluids with pregnancy.
